This exhibition catalog was designed as part of the University of Virginia's exhibit titled, The Firebird & the Factory: Modern Russian Children's Books.
The exhibition showcased an extensive collection of Russian children's books which spanned the rapid transformation of Russian society from 1920 through 1935, and was divided chronologically into three main periods, (late Imperial Russia, the revolutionary era, and early Soviet Russia). The catalog's limited production (just 500 copies) was printed on richly textured paper using a UV press (a process where inks are dried using ultra-violet light vs solvents, resulting in much richer, and more vibrant colors).
