Virginia Tech Visitor
Information Center

2011. Firm: Riggs Ward

Virginia Tech's Visitor Information Center is where visitors are welcomed, and prospective students congregate before their campus tours. The visitor center and interactive media contained within serve two purposes, to honor the history of the University and its alumni, and to recruit a new generation of Hokies.

The touch sensitive displays allow visitors to navigate through sections relating Student Life, Academics, and Virginia Tech's wealth of Research programs. Faculty and student video vignettes also introduce the diversity of opportunities — academic, athletic, social, recreational — that define the Virginia Tech experience.

Housed in a 46in touch monitor, the Hokie Nation kiosk honors achievements of alumni on a global scale. The kiosk pulls from university databases to serve the most current data about the student body, alumni, or programs.

A campus map kiosk provides historical information about any building on campus. Users can send information about walking tours, parking, or turn by turn directions via email to their mobile device.
